[ Renly had noticed her name on the list of people and, at first, he had been a little unsure about messaging her - time was such a complex thing, here, and he has no idea what time she is from -- but it was better to have her know he is here than not. She was a Rainbow Guard, after all, and he could not dismiss that even after his death. ]

Brienne.

[ The video feed comes with that familiar gentile smile and a bow of his head. ]

[ No.

That is the first thing that comes into her head when she sees his face. Just that little word, a complete refusal of whatever it means that he is speaking to her.

No.

It is a lie, some sort of trick, some cruel jest meant to tear her heart in two and it is working ever so well. ]

No.

[ It is little more than a gasp, and her eyes fill with tears that she has no way of stopping.

At least this should make it clear to him that whatever time she is from, it is one beyond the point of his death. ]

[ Renly isn't surprised by her reaction; he had been given the same by Loras, not so long ago, and he lets her have a moment to gather herself and weep. He knows she had cared for him, adored him, and he cannot fault her for that - he is worth adoration, after all. She must have come from after his death and he allows her a moment of surprise before he speaks. ]

It is truly me, if you have your doubts. You can speak to Loras or my brother, Stannis, if you disbelieve me. I saw your name and thought it best to contact you before you saw me and thought I dared ignore a member of my Guard.

Stannis?

[ Stannis is in Asgard. She could have the revenge she swore that she would get for Renly's murder. She could fulfill her oath and kill him. ]

[ He nods, once, sharply. ]

Yes, he is here - and I know your thoughts well, as Loras shares them. His death would be meaningless here as death is not permanent. He would return to us as alive as ever with a mind to punish you, I am certain.

Death is not... [ She cannot even finish the sentence, so stunned is she by this revelation. Uncertain how to act or what to make of anything at all, she falls into the comforting familiarity of serving him as she bows her head. ]

Your Grace, if it is your will that I leave him be it shall be so.

[ And yes you'd better believe that she will Your Grace him, he never stopped being her king.

It does not occur to her to disbelieve him. If he says the dead come back to life in this place, then it is so. ]

But I would gladly suffer any punishment to see your death avenged.

I know it is much to stomach, Brienne, and it is far too much to deal with upon a first arrival. I would have given you more time had I thought it best, but time is something we often lack in this place.

[ He watches her bow his head and, for a moment, is touched. Even here, without his kingship, without his banners and tents, he can still rely upon her loyalty. He remembers giving her the cloak of the guard, her pride and joy, the sickening sweetness of her gaze, and he remembers it fondly. If only the rest of his guard were here to relish in his life, he thinks.

Alas, there is not much he can give her here. He had a house, but it was destroyed. A home, torn from him again. All he has left is Loras and his vows to him - vows he is not sure Brienne would take kindly to. ]

I would not wish that upon you. Stannis is hardly worth the effort, not here. It is best for us to seek our own place and find peace, don't you agree?

[ She would walk through all the seven hells for him without any hesitation at all. But she is nevertheless not quite the same young woman that fought so hard to be a member of his guard, many things have changed, some innocence has been lost and new vows have been sworn.

He might not be much happier about her vows than she would be about his, all things considered.

With but a smile he reclaimed her heart and her service, but she has still also sworn to find Sansa Stark, and that is an oath sworn to a Lannister.

A Lannister that she has a somewhat complicated relationship with.

A Lannister who is very much in Asgard at this moment. ]

I think justice is always worth the effort, Your Grace, but I will do as you say.

[ He nods, watching her. He has always found Brienne quite hard to read, beyond her obvious fancy for him - something he was quite glad he was unable to return, if he was being honest. She was still a good deal taller than him, a might stronger, too, and he was glad to have her back for that, at least. It was good to see the Rainbow Guard start to develop in Asgard even if he had lost his crown.

He cannot read her mind, but he can read some of her - she is conflicted and rightfully so. She probably moved on after his death as many others did. Margaery remarried, Loras joined the Kingsguard, his brother continued his bought for the throne - and he was simply gone. ]

I thank you for that. I am trying to keep peace here as best I can - war is a trifle unnecessary if we can avoid it, don't you think?

[ He smiles, waving a hand. ]

Perhaps we might drink and break fast some time.

[ "Moving on" would be saying a bit much, really. It never takes much for the wound his death left on her heart to rip wide open and start bleeding again, but it is true that she has found other things to fight for.

Other things to die for.

The offer of a shared meal makes her stomach fill with butterflies, and she offers him a shy smile, keeping her lips closed as to not show the gaps where teeth once were. ]

If it please you, Your Grace.

[ He watches her carefully, eyes flickering along her face - oh, Loras was not going to be pleased by her arrival here. The memory of his jealousy was still fresh in his mind. He leans down to offer her a soft, sweet smile, much like the one he had gifted her with when they had danced so long ago. ]

It would honour me, Brienne, I assure you, not just please me. I can only hope you would be gracious enough to gift me with your presence.

[ She knows that he does not hold the same love in his heart for her as she does for him, and yet that smile makes her feel as light as a feather, just as it had when she was just a girl. ]

The honour would be mine.

[ His smile brightens and he beams, giving her as best a bow as he can give through the bracelets. ]

It would delight me so, Brienne. I thank you for it.

As I thank you, Your Grace.

[ Oh, is she not in for the most fun ride here in Asgard... ]

You may call me by name if you desire. I would not fault you for it - I am no king here.

You are still my king.

[ But how could she possibly resist such an offer? ]
